MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DON BOSCO ALUMNI, IMPHAL
29th March 2009
DON BOSCO ALUMNI, IMPHAL unit met together on 29th March 2009 at Don Bosco Chuingmeirong at 4.00 pm. The meeting began with a prayer. After a short photo session Mr. Yambem Laba, the president of the Association of Don Bosco alumni, Imphal, Unit, presided over the meeting and members all stood in silence for two minutes in the memory of the departed souls of Dr. Thingnam Kishan and his staff.
Father M.C. George talked about the formation of new Alumni Association and its evolution from the Past Pupil Associations. The new Alumni association will integrate all the past pupils of DON BOSCO irrespective of the place where the school belongs. He also expressed thankfulness to the past pupils of DONBOSCO Imphal who are communicating and supporting one another through Yahoo Group. He also commented that as individuals the past pupils have done a commendable job, but as a unit in the local area we are not organized.
A global candle light vigil was decided to be organized on the 5th April 2009 at 7.30 PM (Local time) around the globe in solidarity to honour the departed soul of Dr. Thingnam Kishan, who was an ex-student of DON BOSCO, Imphal. Dr Kishan. He imbibed the values and principles of the teachings of Don Bosco and followed a golden path. He would be a role model for the coming generation. Dr. Kishan’s Photos, his Articles, writeups would be uploaded to Alumni’s web site soon.
Dr. Stephen, Secretary and Treasurer of the Provincial council, informed the members about the criteria to become a member of the alumni, its organizational structures, membership fees, vision and mission. He spoke of the motto : Know, Love, Help one another and United. Each member of the alumni will help members to keep in touch with each other and spread values to the society.
The members decided the membership fees as follows. The fee for the Lifetime membership is Rs.2045/-, for annual membership Rs. 200/- per year (plus one time Rs.45/- for the ID card and the rule book), Lifetime membership for students Rs. 1045/-.
The Date for the next meeting was fixed on April 26th 2009, at 3 PM.
The agendas for the next meeting are
1) Something to be done for the Youth
2) Something for the poor and abandoned
3) Re-organizing the office-bearer of the unit.
Mr Jeevan Chandra along with Fr Francis would form a committee to work out the details of the Memorial for Dr Kishan on 5th April 7.30 pm.
The meeting came to a close with the following prayer of the Alumni, led by Fr P X Francis, the local delegate.
O God, in the name of Don Bosco, whose sole desire was our welfare and happiness, we have come together to thank with what we are and what we have. Bind us ever closer together. Help us support one another with genuine and lasting love. May we remain united in joy, irrespective of caste, creed, culture or language, living as honest citizens, as ewe prepare with hope for the life to come.
