Mega Manipur School

AN ENGLISH MEDIUM CO-EDUCATION MONTESSORI DAY SCHOOL
YARALPAT, TINSEED ROAD, IMPHAL, MANIPUR

Motto: Education for Growth

FROM THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF
THE MEGA MANPUR SOCIETY

Mega Manipur Society, is formed by a visionary group of people who have no pretensions to anything but be just a cog in the wheel of development and change for Manipur. It is a common interest, we share for which we willingly come forward we will get. We want a peaceful, progressive, self sufficient and a non dependent Manipur which will give back to this world what it has given to it. We want a Manipur that can and will stand tall and be counted. Towards this end, we have identified several areas where we can work individually and collectively to bring about qualitative change. But the ultimate change we believe will come from individual citizens, Manipuris-empowered individually and collectively to take on the challenges that the world unfolds before us. Therefore the concept of Mega Manipur School … This is a school with a future- a school of vision. This is a school not with a huge aging trunk- but a school with tender stem willing to touch the sky. It is not just another school bur a CULTURE taking its root. It is unique not because we say so but because it is. As you go through this prospectus, you will realize it is a movement towards a better future. A future you and I desperately wanted but was always beyond reach. Today we are always beyond reach. Today we are gathered together to give that future to our children – who are the FUTURE of this Nation.
It’s a future we foresee full of challenges. We, in this society, feel it is the duty of this generation to see that these young minds grow into giants in mind and body. Our agenda is to empower them not only academically and spiritually but also in vocational skills that will form the bedrock of the economy of this region. We plan to expose them to cultures and languages of South East Asian Countries including that of our immediate neighbour, Myanmar and Thailand, so that they are able to take on the world when the Eastern Door finally opens. We will teach them the importance of their roots, of their culture, of their environment and ignite in their hearts a lone for the end we come together- from all walks of life to unitedly struggle.
The power of individual has always been undervalued. We tend to think we are too little – too less, too small to be able to effect changes. We seek collectivity when challenges confront us. Ironically we in Manipur, have also come to the conclusion that we can never function together. But the truth is-it is the ignited singular individuals who have brought profound changes and it is the collectiveness that have made the changes lasts and possible. We believe individuals just like you and me can be the harbinger of the changes and play and important role in shaping our own destiny. Please join the movement and be part of History in the making.

Thank you.

Yumnam Rupachandra
Chairperson,
MEGA MANIPUR SOCIETY, IMPHAL

MEGA MANIPUR SCHOOL, TINSEED ROAD, IMPHAL EAST

Profile of the School:
Mega Manipur School is an English Medium Co-educational Residential Cum Day School based on Montessori system of teaching/learning with local adjustment. It is manned by a well trained committed team of teachers lad by an experienced Head Mistress (Primary Level). The school is operated under the guidance of a School Managing Committee formed by the members (Parents) of promoting society, the MEGA MANIPUR SOCIETY (MMS).

MMS will follow the CBSE pattern for its academic course.
To ensure individual attention the Teacher Student ratio has been fixed at 1:20 (for whole school) while the Classroom Student ration is at 1:40. Every 20 pupils will be under direct supervision of one teacher for their academic, health and mental growth.

The teacher will record the physical growth (height, weight etc.) of every student under their care on monthly basis and send a health report to the parents. The Teachers will also monitor the academic growth and performance of each pupil under their care in consultation with a Counsellor to identify weak and strong points of the students. Based on their report corrective measures including Remedial Classes or Booster classes as the case may be, would be given to the students.

No Home Work (Academic) and Tuition Class education: MMS is of the opinion that academic inputs to the students must be given during the academic session in the classes. The time spent is the classrooms must be “quality time” Every minute in the classes should be spent in importing knowledge thus doing away with the need for additional classes (Private tuition) at home at extra cost. At home, we would like the children to pursue activities that all children are entitled to. In this connection we would like to introduce Education Beyond Classroom. It is our understanding that every child needs to understand his surrounding/environment and draw inspiration and knowledge from it. When we talk of education beyond classroom, our teachers will guide the activities of your children at your homes and with minimal help from you turn their natural activities into education. An example would be our teacher will determine the duration and kind of TV channels your children watch and turn it into a learning process. They will encourage students – depending on their age to do their own chares like polishing their shoes etc. while no home work of the kind you are accustomed to would be given, children would be given reading materials for home which will include text books, reference books and other supplementary reading materials.

Evaluation rather than Examination for Lower Classes:
